I am a journalism student at San Diego State. Throughout my time in college, I have worked in various media and marketing positions to understand what my true passion is. I have decided that I wanted to dedicate the usage of my journalism degree to broadcast storytelling. I have since worked as a social media intern for SDSU’s JMS Department, ran the Instagram for my club volleyball team, and and write for the Daily Aztec. This past semester, I began working as a field reporter for KUSI’s Prep Pigskin Report, which has solidified my love for broadcast journalism and shown me that this is the career path I want to pursue.
One of my favorite quotes to keep in mind as I approach new challenges in this career comes from the Indian guru Nisargadatta Maharaj: “All you need is already within you; you must only approach yourself with reverence and love.” I believe that as I start to navigate the uncertainty of journalism, this is a beautiful reminder to carry with me, as it encourages patience and growth.
